Chapter 4 - The Unsealing of the Indictment

Victor’s face tightened into an ugly, dark crimson. He lunged forward, slamming his palms flat against the mahogany table. "Adrian! You are embarrassing this entire board in front of our international capital partners! I built this company’s financing structure! If you have personal grievances regarding your domestic arrangements, handle them in family court!"
Special Agent Marcus Miller stepped forward, dropping an unsealed, red-tabbed federal arrest warrant directly onto the center of the acquisition contract.
"Victor Sloane," Agent Miller announced, his voice booming through the high-vaulted glass room. "You are formally served with federal arrest warrants issued under Cause Number 26-CR-8841 by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York."
Victor staggered backward two steps, clutching the edge of his executive leather chair. "On what authority? On what charges?"
"Forty-two counts of federal enterprise racketeering, conspiracy to commit unlawful institutional kidnapping under color of official authority, grand corporate forgery, interstate wire fraud, and the felonious tampering with state child protective records," Agent Miller declared with freezing clinical detachment.
Arthur Ross stepped to the digital projection terminal, inserting an encrypted military-grade flash drive.
The massive, eighty-inch wall screens flickered to life.
The first slide displayed the encrypted wire transfer logs showing the $3.2 million funneled from Victor’s private accounts to Lena’s offshore trust in Nassau.
The second slide showed the high-definition security camera footage from the basement of my estate—capturing Lena holding the wooden pointer, forcing twelve-year-old Noah and eight-year-old Lily to memorize the forged abuse scripts while pointing to the poster boards.
The third slide played the high-fidelity audio recording extracted from the hidden digital safe:
November 14, 11:22 PM — Victor Sloane to Lena Cole: "Make sure the children cry during the recording, Lena. The family court judge needs to see visible emotional trauma. Once Adrian is admitted to the psychiatric facility on Section 9.39, his voting shares automatically default to me as guardian ad litem. The forty million is ours before Friday."
A collective, horrified gasp rippled through the twelve investors and directors around the table.
Several senior partners pushed their chairs back, openly backing away from Victor as if he were carrying a lethal contagion.
"Turn that off!" Victor shrieked, lunging toward the audio-visual console. "Turn it off! That audio is an unauthorized digital fabrication!"
Two federal marshals in tactical blazers stepped through the doorway, unholstering heavy stainless-steel handcuffs.
They closed the distance in two strides, catching Victor by the wrists, twisting his arms behind his bespoke tailored jacket.

The steel handcuffs ratcheted shut with a sharp, mechanical snap that shattered thirty years of unearned aristocratic prestige into dust.
As Victor Sloane was dragged through the executive lobby in tears, screaming frantic threats against the board before flashing news cameras, the directors sat in stunned, breathless silence, watching the total, unalterable collapse of the Sloane dynasty beneath the bright boardroom lights.
