Chapter 6 - The Cleansing of the Board

At 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, the grand executive boardroom on the sixtieth floor of the Vance-Thorne Maritime Tower overlooking New York Harbor was convened for an emergency plenary session of the international shipping trustees.
The thirty-two senior division directors, deepwater crane operators, and maritime labor union representatives sat around the sixty-foot mahogany conference table in dead, suffocating silence.
The morning front-page headlines of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Financial Times lay spread across the polished table, every banner dominated by the same earth-shattering revelation:
HARPER VANCE CRUSHES $80M TAKEOVER PLOT: CONNOR HALE AND STERLING SYNDICATE ARRESTED FOR RACKETEERING AND FRAUD.
When the double frosted-glass doors slid open, every single executive in the room stood up in unison.
I walked into the boardroom, dressed in my tailored charcoal suit, my posture radiating total, uncontested dominance.
Walking beside me was Gabriel Thorne, followed by Arthur Ross, Maya Torres, and Chief Financial Auditor David Sterling, carrying four heavy aluminum Pelican cases containing the unsealed Delaware and Zurich forensic ledgers.
I took my seat at the head of the table—the seat my father had built thirty years earlier.
"Good morning, gentlemen," I began, my clear, resonant voice commanding absolute silence across the vast room. "Item one on today's agenda is the formal, permanent termination of all corporate contracts, voting proxies, and advisory seats previously allocated to Hale Capital Management and Julian Sterling."
The directors and union leaders nodded in rapid, unanimous agreement, every single man signing the emergency restructuring resolutions without a single objection.
"Item two," I continued, looking around the table with cold, penetrating clarity. "The eighty million dollars in deepwater terminal equity fraudulently encumbered under the Zurich escrow accounts has been fully restored to the Arthur and Harper Vance Generational Trust."
The room erupted into spontaneous, standing applause.
"And item three," I added, turning to Gabriel with boundless, unshakeable devotion. "The Vance-Thorne Foundation for Forensic Integrity and Worker Protection is officially endowed with fifty million dollars in permanent capital, providing comprehensive legal defense, emergency housing, and educational scholarships for vulnerable women and working families battling corporate and domestic abuse across the Northeast."

The longshoremen union delegates and terminal directors rose to their feet, their cheers echoing through the high-vaulted glass atrium, sealing the dawn of an unshakeable, unified empire built on honor, loyalty, and truth.
I closed the master leather ledger with a sharp, definitive thud. "The meeting is adjourned. Let's get our ships back on the water."
