Chapter 9 - Setting Sail

The ship's horn bellowed a deep, resonant roar that vibrated through the steel deck and echoed across the harbor, signaling our imminent departure. Mooring lines were cast off by sailors on the pier, splashing heavily into the dark water as the massive turbines hummed to life, generating a low, steady thrum beneath our feet.

Slowly, majestically, the destroyer pulled away from the pier, gliding out past the breakwater and into the open sea.

Down on the shore, the tiny figures of tourists and dockworkers faded into the distance. And somewhere in a quiet suburban apartment, my sister was facing a future stripped of illusions.

Instead, those scars had become the roadmap of my survival—a testament to a resilience that no amount of billionaire corruption could ever break.

Leaning against the bridge railing, I watched the white foam churn in our wake, feeling the cool ocean spray wash over my face. The past was behind us now, buried beneath the rolling waves of the deep Atlantic. Ahead lay only the mission, the open sea, and the unwritten horizon.
