Chapter 8 - The Congressional Testimony

Three weeks later, the soaring marble halls of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., were packed to absolute capacity for the historic congressional hearings on military corruption and illegal international arms trafficking, chaired jointly by the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Department of Justice.
Sitting at the central witness table, dressed in a sharp, dignified navy-blue suit alongside his father, sat ten-year-old Noah Vance.
Cameras flashed from every angle. Major television networks broadcast the proceedings live to tens of millions of viewers nationwide.
When the Chairman of the Committee called the session to order, he looked down at the young boy with profound, respectful solemnity.
"Master Noah Vance," the Chairman began, his voice echoing across the vaulted chamber. "You played a pivotal, extraordinary role in dismantling one of the most dangerous shadow weapons rings in modern military history. Would you like to share your statement with the committee?"
Noah stood up, adjusting the microphone slightly so it reached his height. He looked out over the sea of powerful senators, high-ranking generals, and reporters, his heart beating steadily in his chest, remembering his father’s golden rule: Control what you can control.
"When I was on that shooting range, I thought I was just verifying a timestamp for a trusted military general," Noah began, his voice clear, resonant, and remarkably steady for a ten-year-old boy. "I didn't know about the shadow weapons ring, or the stolen data, or the bad men in uniforms who thought they were above the law. But I knew one thing: my dad taught me to do what's right, even when your hands are shaking."
He paused, looking directly at the cameras broadcasting to the entire world.

"My dad always told me that a gun is just a piece of metal. It doesn't have a soul. The soul belongs to the person pulling the trigger. I'm just glad I used mine to protect the people I love."
The committee room erupted into a powerful, sustained standing ovation. Senators, generals, and spectators alike rose to their feet, applauding the extraordinary courage of a ten-year-old boy who had stared down a corrupt military syndicate and won.
