Chapter 5 - The Cleansing of the Board

At 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, the grand executive boardroom on the sixtieth floor of the Vance Maritime Tower overlooking New York Harbor was convened for an emergency plenary session of the international shareholders.
The thirty-two senior division directors, deepwater terminal operators, and maritime labor union representatives sat around the sixty-foot mahogany conference table in dead, suffocating silence.
The morning front-page headlines of The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal lay spread across the polished table, every banner dominated by the same earth-shattering revelation:
VANCE MARITIME PURGES STERLING CONGLOMERATE: LIAM VANCE CRUSHES $80M FRAUD AND EXTORTION CONSPIRACY.
When the double frosted-glass doors slid open, every single executive in the room stood up in unison.
Liam Vance walked into the boardroom, dressed in an immaculate bespoke charcoal three-piece suit, his posture radiating total, uncontested dominance.
Walking beside him, holding his hand with quiet, proud confidence, was eight-year-old Chloe Vance.
She wore a dark navy wool blazer over her pleated dress, her long brown hair brushed neatly over her shoulders, her gray eyes bright, fearless, and clear.
Following behind them were Arthur Ross, Detective Marcus Thorne, and Marcus Vance, carrying four heavy aluminum Pelican cases containing the unsealed Delaware and Zurich forensic ledgers.
Liam walked to the head of the table—the seat his father and grandfather had occupied for six decades. He pulled out the executive chair, gently seating Chloe at his right hand, before taking his place at the center of the board.
"Good morning, gentlemen," Liam began, his deep baritone cutting through the room with absolute authority. "Item one on today's agenda is the formal, permanent termination of all corporate contracts, joint ventures, and maritime logistics leases previously allocated to Sterling Capital Equities."
The directors nodded in rapid, unanimous agreement, every single director signing the emergency restructuring resolutions without a single objection.
"Item two," Liam continued, looking around the table with cold, penetrating clarity. "The eighty million dollars in commercial equity fraudulently encumbered under the Sterling proxy applications has been fully restored to the Eleanor and Chloe Vance Generational Trust."
The room erupted into spontaneous, standing applause.
"And item three," Liam added, turning to Marcus Vance. "The Chloe Vance Foundation for Child Protection and Elder Justice is officially endowed with thirty million dollars in permanent capital, providing emergency legal defense, transitional housing, and comprehensive advocacy for vulnerable families battling fraud and coercion across the tri-state area."

The longshoremen union delegates and terminal directors rose to their feet, their cheers echoing through the high-vaulted glass atrium, sealing the dawn of an unshakeable, unified future built on honor, loyalty, and truth.
Liam closed the master leather ledger with a sharp, definitive thud. "The meeting is adjourned. Let's get our ships back on the water."
