Over forty senior corporate directors, maritime shipping magnates, and port commissioners sat in the grand executive boardroom under emergency federal guard.
Assistant United States Attorney Marcus Reed and Special Agent Raymond Callahan of the FBI’s Organized Crime Strike Force sat at the head of the table alongside Ethan Cross, Frank Callahan, and Elena Vance.
Frank Callahan slammed three thick volumes of certified federal indictments onto the center of the mahogany table with a concussive thud.
"Under emergency judicial orders executed by Chief District Judge Evelyn Montgomery at dawn," Frank announced, his voice booming across the silent hall, "Julian Vance and eleven executive conspirators have been formally indicted for First-Degree Premeditated Murder, Grand Corporate Larceny exceeding eighty million dollars, Obstruction of Justice, and Federal Racketeering under the RICO Act."
Frank connected his tablet to the seventy-foot digital display wall.
The massive screens illuminated instantly in four-K clarity, playing Julian Vance's unedited video confession recorded in the subterranean vault, the digital forensic telemetry of the offshore Cayman accounts, and the synchronized audio recordings extracted from Clare's private servers.
The boardroom erupted into furious, panicked shouts. Directors shoved their chairs back in open horror, glaring across the table at the empty chair where Julian had once sat.
Ethan Cross stood up.
The entire forty-man assembly fell into an immediate, absolute silence.
Ethan leaned forward, his slate-gray eyes locking onto the leaders of his empire with sovereign authority.
"The Cross Maritime Consortium is no longer operated under backroom alliances and shadow networks," Ethan declared, his deep baritone carrying clear and steady. "As of this morning, fifty-one percent of all voting equity has been consolidated into The Clare & Caleb Cross Sovereign Heritage Trust, with Elena Vance appointed as Executive Trustee and Director of Corporate Compliance."
The directors looked at Elena—a woman of unshakeable dignity and brilliant intellect—now sitting at the right hand of the most powerful maritime sovereign in North America.
