Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Circle

The autumn sun slipped slowly below the Boston skyline, setting the historic brick rooftops and the harbor waters ablaze with sweeping brushstrokes of amber, crimson, and deep violet.

Along Adams Street, the streetlamps flickered to life one by one, casting warm pools of light across the pavement. Inside the green house, the kitchen window glowed with the warm, inviting light of a family dinner being prepared.

On the sweeping stone terrace of the Beacon Hill mansion, Victoria Rosewood stood by the iron railing, holding a crystal glass of sparkling water, looking out over the city she had spent a lifetime trying to control—and finally learning to love.

The heavy oak library door behind her opened softly.

Maya stepped out onto the terrace, wearing a bright yellow sweater, holding a steaming mug of tea. She walked over, leaning her arms against the iron railing beside her aunt.

"Dad’s making his famous pot roast tonight," Maya announced with a grin. "He said if you show up in that cashmere coat, he’s going to accidentally spill barbecue sauce on it just to see if you're human."

Victoria laughed—a sound that filled the evening air with a radiant, unburdened joy.

"Tell your father that this cashmere coat survived a hostile board meeting and a federal investigation," Victoria replied, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "A little barbecue sauce won't stand a chance."

Maya smiled, turning her gaze toward the glittering lights of the harbor stretching out in the distance.

The storm had passed. The false ledgers had been burned. And standing together beneath the vast, starlit canopy of the Boston night, the circle of the Rosewood family was finally, perfectly unbroken.
