Chapter 6 - The Counter-Strike on Wall Street

The filing of the federal securities fraud complaint against Julian Vance and Vanguard Capital sent an immediate, seismic shockwave through the New York financial district.

By Monday morning, the story was breaking across Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, and TechCrunch: "VENTURE CAPITAL TITAN JULIAN VANCE FACES SEC PROBE OVER PREDATORY DEBT SCHEMES AND IP THEFT."

The fallout was swift and merciless. Institutional investors holding millions in Vanguard Capital funds panicked upon learning of the federal fraud probe, immediately demanding audits and withdrawing their capital en masse. Vanguard's limited partners revolted, forcing Julian to step down as senior managing partner pending an independent internal investigation.

I watched the financial news broadcast playing silently on the breakroom television while pouring a cup of coffee on Monday afternoon, feeling a profound, unshakeable sense of closure.

Marcus walked into the breakroom, holding a tablet displaying our real-time revenue metrics, a triumphant grin stretching across his face.

"Maya, you've got to see this," Marcus laughed, spinning the tablet around. "With the negative press surrounding Vanguard, three of their other portfolio startups just jumped ship and migrated their infrastructure to our API platform. Our ARR just crossed the two-million-dollar mark!"

I looked at the soaring revenue chart, feeling a warm wave of pride for the team that had stood shoulder-to-shoulder with me through the crisis.

"Make sure our customer success team is ready to support the new influx, Marcus," I instructed. "Growth is great, but stability and service are what keep enterprise clients locked in for the long haul."

"Way ahead of you," Marcus nodded, heading back toward the bullpen.

The nightmare of the first timeline—the locked doors, the stolen equity, the silent defeat—was gone, permanently overwritten by an unbreakable foundation of sovereign ownership and relentless execution.
