Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Circle

The sun dipped below the western skyline of Manhattan, setting the historic brick towers of the city ablaze with sweeping brushstrokes of amber, crimson, and deep, majestic violet.

Along Madison Avenue, the streetlamps flickered to life one by one, casting golden pools of light across the sidewalks where three generations of history had been rewritten by a single act of uncalculated grace. The waters of the East River surged gently against the sea wall, their rhythm steady, eternal, and peaceful.

On the forty-second floor of the corporate tower, Walter Bennett stood by the panoramic window, holding a cup of black coffee between his hands, looking down through the twilight at the warm light spilling from the lobby entrance onto the busy street below.

The heavy oak door of the executive suite clicked open.

Ethan Parker walked in, carrying his leather portfolio, looking tired but profoundly at peace.

Walter turned from the window, walking over to his young partner and handing him a fresh cup of coffee.

"Long day, Director Parker?" Walter asked softly.

"The best kind of long day, Walter," Ethan smiled, taking a sip from the cup. "We built something real today."

Walter nodded, looking out toward the endless expanse of the city lights burning bright against the gathering night.

"We did, Ethan," the old founder murmured, raising his cup in a silent toast. "We built a house that doesn't fall down when the storm hits."

Outside, the cool evening breeze off the water rustled the leaves of the newly planted trees along the avenue, carrying the sweet scent of spring, fresh asphalt, and the limitless promise of a tomorrow that would never, ever go dark again.

The storm had passed. The debt of honor was paid. And standing in the warm, golden light of the home they had redeemed together, the circle was finally, perfectly unbroken.
