Chapter 7 - The Downfall of the Vipers

Two hours later, the private conference room at the Iron Vipers' Blackwood Estate was packed to capacity.

Twenty regional lieutenants, captains, and senior enforcers sat around the massive mahogany table, whispering anxiously among themselves. Word had spread that Marcus Vance was in the hospital with a shattered jaw, and that Jack Carter had called an emergency syndicate council meeting under armed guard.

The heavy oak doors swung open.

Jack Carter walked in first, standing tall and unyielding. But walking right beside him—wearing his school track jacket, his hazel eyes calm, focused, and carrying an unshakeable quiet authority—was seventeen-year-old Ethan Brooks.

Flanking them were four private federal marshals, their tactical vests emblazoned with FBI - ORGANIZED CRIME TASK FORCE.

A senior captain named Bruno stood up from his chair, slamming his hands onto the table. "What is the meaning of this, Jack?! You brought federal agents into the compound?!"

Jack didn't yell. He walked to the head of the table, pulled out the primary executive chair, and gestured for Ethan to sit down.

Ethan hesitated, then pulled out the chair and sat down, folding his hands neatly on the polished wood.

Jack turned his cold, dead eyes upon the room of hardened criminals.

"For thirty years, this club has operated on blood, extortion, and the illusion that we were untouchable," Jack’s voice echoed off the timber walls, carrying the absolute sovereignty of a king abdicating his throne. "We built an empire on the misery of working families—families like my own sister’s, whom we starved while we lived in luxury."

Jack reached into his leather cut, pulled out a heavy, steel-encased flash drive containing every financial ledger, shell corporation account, and illicit shipping manifest the Vipers owned, and placed it squarely in front of the federal prosecutor standing by the door.

"As of twelve o'clock today, the Iron Vipers syndicate is officially, permanently dissolved," Jack announced, every syllable ringing with finality. "Every asset, every property, and every bank account is being turned over to the federal government as part of a comprehensive, cooperative plea agreement."

Pandemonium erupted in the room. Three captains reached for their sidearms, but before their fingers could clear their holsters, the federal marshals raised their assault rifles, locking laser sights onto their chests.

"Sit down!" the lead marshal barked. "Any movement and you spend the rest of your natural lives in a federal supermax!"

Jack didn't even flinch. He looked down at Ethan, offering a faint, proud smile.

"The empire is gone, Ethan," Jack murmured quietly. "But the debt is finally paid."
