Chapter 5 - The Fall of a Tyrant

Henderson remained crumpled on the marble floor, his face buried in his hands, realizing with absolute, crushing horror that his career, his reputation, and his livelihood had evaporated in less than five minutes.

Marcus Sterling didn't wait for Henderson to recover. He signaled to two burly corporate security guards standing near the private elevator bank.

"Escort Mr. Henderson off the property," Marcus commanded coldly. "Revoke his parking privileges, confiscate his corporate keys, and ensure he is permanently blacklisted from every subsidiary in our portfolio. If he attempts to enter this building again, have him arrested for criminal trespassing."

The security guards moved with military precision, hauling the weeping, broken manager up by his arms and dragging him toward the revolving doors as the rain continued to lash against the glass outside. Henderson didn't utter another word; he was entirely defeated, swallowed by the very system of cruelty he had spent years enforcing.

Once the lobby had quieted down, Frank Dawson turned back to Jake, extending a heavy, calloused hand across the mahogany counter.

Jake reached out and shook it, feeling the immense, crushing strength in the old man’s grip—a grip forged through decades of building an empire from the ground up.

"Thank you, Mr. Dawson," Jake said, his voice thick with emotion. "I... I honestly don't know what to say. I was just trying to help someone who was freezing."

"And that is precisely why you are standing here, and why Henderson is currently being thrown into the alley," Frank replied, his slate-blue eyes twinkling with rare, genuine warmth. "Kindness is a rare commodity in high-end hospitality, Mr. Miller. Most people only care about the tip, the star rating, or the corporate bottom line. But a true leader looks at the person standing in front of them, not the clothes they’re wearing."

Frank gestured toward the private elevator banks. "Come with me, Jake. Marcus has prepared the paperwork for your promotion, and I believe you have an executive suite waiting for you upstairs—compliments of the house."

"Actually, sir," Jake smiled softly, shaking his head. "I think I'd rather check on my mother first and tell her the good news. But I'll be back at my desk tomorrow morning at eight sharp."

Frank nodded approvingly. "Family first, always. That's rule number two."
