Media outlets clamored for interviews, wanting to paint the tale as a modern-day fairy tale. But Frank Dawson firmly declined all press inquiries, preferring to keep the focus where it belonged: on corporate accountability and human empathy.
Instead, Jake found himself sitting in the walnut-paneled boardroom on the seventy-fifth floor, surrounded by regional vice presidents, financial analysts, and corporate strategists.
"Mr. Miller," Marcus Sterling said, standing at the head of the long mahogany table and pointing to a digital projection screen displaying architectural blueprints. Jake looked up at the blueprints. They detailed emergency intake centers, dining programs, and educational scholarship funds designed to lift struggling young workers and transient individuals out of poverty, giving them the exact second chance he had tried to offer Frank Dawson in the rain.
