Chapter 5 - The Cleansing of the Board

At 9:00 a.m. on Monday, the grand executive boardroom on the sixtieth floor of the Moretti Sovereign Maritime Tower overlooking New York Harbor was convened for an extraordinary plenary session of the international shipping trustees and labor union directors.

The thirty-two senior division directors, deepwater crane operators, and maritime union representatives sat around the sixty-foot mahogany conference table in dead, suffocating silence.

The morning front-page headlines of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Star-Ledger lay spread across the polished table, every banner dominated by the same earth-shattering revelation:

MORETTI DYNASTY PURGES CORRUPT SENATORIAL ALLIANCE: LORENZO MORETTI RESCUES ORPHANED HEIRS FROM FREEZER TRAP, RECLAIMS $180M DEEPWATER FLEET.

When the double frosted-glass doors swung open, every single executive in the room stood up in unison.

Lorenzo Moretti walked into the boardroom, dressed in an immaculate bespoke charcoal three-piece suit, radiating total, uncontested dominance.

Walking beside him, holding her head high with regal, sovereign dignity, was Elara Vance.

I wore my tailored dark navy wool three-piece suit with an ivory silk blouse, holding the master leather portfolio containing the unsealed Delaware charters.

Sitting proudly in two cushioned leather booster armchairs at the head of the table were Leo and Mia, happily drinking hot chocolate from silver cups, their cheeks flushed with radiant, laughing health.

Following behind us were Arthur Ross, Detective Marcus Thorne, and Chief Financial Auditor David Sterling, carrying four heavy aluminum Pelican cases containing the unsealed Delaware and Grand Cayman forensic ledgers.

Lorenzo walked to the head of the table—the seat his father and brother had occupied for decades. He pulled out the master executive armchair, gently seating me at the center of the board, while placing Leo and Mia securely at our right hand, before taking his place standing firmly beside us.

"Good morning, gentlemen," Lorenzo began, his deep baritone cutting through the vast room with absolute authority. "Item one on today's agenda is the formal, permanent termination of all corporate contracts, voting proxies, and advisory seats previously allocated to Senator Julian Thorne, Isabella Thorne, and Apex Maritime Equities."

The directors and union leaders nodded in rapid, unanimous agreement, every single man signing the emergency restructuring resolutions without a single objection.

"Item two," Lorenzo continued, looking around the table with cold, penetrating clarity. "The one hundred and eighty million dollars in deepwater terminal equity fraudulently encumbered under the Thorne succession riders has been fully restored to the Leo and Mia Moretti Generational Trust."

The room erupted into spontaneous, standing applause.

"And item three," Lorenzo added, turning his gaze toward me with boundless, unshakeable devotion. "Elara Vance is hereby confirmed as Supreme Chief Executive Fiduciary and Head of Domestic and Port Operations of the unified Moretti-Vance Global Maritime Consortium, with absolute veto authority over all commercial, legal, and operational expansions."

I closed the master leather ledger with a sharp, definitive thud.

"And furthermore," Lorenzo announced, looking down at Leo and Mia where they sat proudly in their chairs, "the Thomas Vance and Marco Moretti Foundation for Orphaned Children and Working-Class Protection is officially endowed with fifty million dollars in permanent capital, guaranteeing full educational scholarships, emergency healthcare, and comprehensive housing security for the families of every dockworker, domestic cleaner, and service employee across the eastern seaboard."

The longshoremen union delegates and terminal directors rose to their feet, their cheers echoing through the high-vaulted glass atrium, sealing the dawn of an unshakeable, unified empire built on honor, loyalty, and truth.
