Chapter 10 - The Unshakable Foundation

Twelve months later, the early winter snow fell softly over the quiet suburban neighborhood, blanketing the rooftops and pine trees in a pristine layer of white.

Inside my brick home, the atmosphere was warm, bright, and filled with an unbreakable, hard-won peace. The commercial deadbolts on the front door gleamed with a dull, reassuring metallic finish—a daily reminder of the night I took back control of my life.

My past was ashes. My future was wide open.

I saved the document, closed my laptop, and walked over to the living room window. Outside, the streetlights flickered on one by one, casting a warm golden glow over the fresh snow.
