Chapter 6 - The Healing of House Moretti

Over the next six months, the restructuring of the Moretti enterprise was completed under Vincent’s visionary, transparent leadership.
The corrupt shell entities, extortion rackets, and shadow networks that had operated under the old regime were systematically eradicated.
Vincent transformed the entire four-hundred-million-dollar conglomerate into a fully legitimate, union-protected global logistics and maritime transport empire, officially christened The Moretti-Hayes Sovereign Consortium.
Clara Hayes was appointed as the Executive Director of the Sofia Moretti Family Heritage Trust, holding an unchallengeable fifteen percent voting equity and managing forty million dollars in community development endowments across New York.
The penthouse on 5th Avenue was completely remodeled under Clara’s artistic direction.
The dark mahogany paneling and cold surveillance barriers were replaced by soaring architectural glass walls, warm white oak flooring, open libraries, and sunlit playrooms that opened out onto a lush rooftop terrace overlooking Central Park.
In the center of the terrace sat a beautiful cedar playhouse for Isabella and Ellie, complete with miniature furniture, stained-glass windows, and an expansive garden of blooming white hydrangeas, fragrant lavender, and climbing roses.
Isabella’s recovery was total and miraculous.
Her voice was bright, musical, and filled with joyful laughter. She spent her mornings studying at the elite Manhattan Academy of Music and her afternoons running through the sunlit corridors with Ellie, their cheerful giggles echoing through rooms that had known only silence for a year.
On a crisp, sunny Saturday morning in late spring, Vincent and Clara stood on the rooftop terrace, sipping fresh roast coffee while watching the two girls play on the lawn.
Down on the emerald turf near the flowerbeds, seven-year-old Isabella was teaching four-year-old Ellie how to balance on a wooden balance beam, laughing as Barnaby, a gentle golden retriever puppy Vincent had adopted for the children, trotted happily beside their feet.
Vincent walked over, resting his arm gently around Clara’s waist, pulling her close against his side.
"How does it feel, Director Clara?" Vincent asked softly, a warm, tender smile touching his lips.

Clara looked out over the sparkling expanse of Central Park where the morning sun turned the city skyline to molten gold.
"It feels like daylight, Vincent," Clara answered with a heart full of absolute, unbreakable peace. "Pure, sovereign daylight."
