Chapter 7 - The Cleansing of the Board

At 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, the grand executive boardroom was convened for an extraordinary plenary session of the reconstituted board of directors.

The eighteen seats were occupied by honest men and women: senior division directors, union pension trustees, and institutional partners who had stood beside Claire since the founding in 2011.

The morning front-page headlines of The Chicago Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, and Crain's Chicago Business lay spread across the polished table, every banner dominated by the same earth-shattering revelation:

BENNETT ROWE PURGES CORRUPT CO-FOUNDER: CLAIRE BENNETT EXPOSES $12M TAKEOVER CONSPIRACY, PROMOTES PARTNER RYAN MERCER AND RECLAIMS 100% OF CORPORATE SOVEREIGNTY.

When the double doors opened, every single director in the room stood up in unison.

Claire Bennett walked into the boardroom, dressed in an immaculate bespoke charcoal three-piece suit, her posture radiating total, uncontested dominance.

Walking beside her, holding his head high with regal, sovereign dignity, was Ryan Mercer.

I wore my tailored dark navy three-piece suit with an ivory silk tie, holding the master leather portfolio containing the unsealed Delaware charters.

Following behind us were Arthur Ross and Chief Forensic Auditor David Sterling, carrying four heavy aluminum Pelican cases containing the unsealed Swiss and Cayman forensic ledgers.

Claire walked to the head of the table—the seat her grandfather and she had established fifteen years earlier.

She pulled out the master executive armchair, taking her rightful place at the center of the board, while gesturing for me to take the senior partner chair securely at her right hand.

"Good afternoon, gentlemen," Claire began, her deep baritone cutting through the vast room with absolute authority. "Item one on today's agenda is the formal, permanent termination of all corporate contracts, voting proxies, and advisory seats previously allocated to Richard Rowe, Julian Vance, and Apex Capital."

The directors nodded in rapid, unanimous agreement, every single hand rising to sign the emergency restructuring resolutions without a single objection.

"Item two," Claire continued, looking around the table with cold, penetrating clarity. "The twelve million four hundred thousand dollars in logistics reserves recovered from the Geneva forfeiture accounts has been fully restored and locked into an irrevocable, sovereign fiduciary trust under the Bennett-Mercer Employee Health and Pension Endowment."

The room erupted into spontaneous, standing applause.

"And item three," Claire added, turning her gaze toward me with boundless, unshakeable devotion. "Ryan Mercer is hereby confirmed as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Bennett Rowe Consulting, with absolute co-signature authority over all commercial, legal, and operational expansions across the United States."

I closed the master leather ledger with a sharp, definitive thud.

"And furthermore," Claire announced, looking around the hall with sovereign pride, "the Bennett-Mercer Foundation for Working-Class Higher Education and Legal Defense is officially endowed with twenty-five million dollars in permanent capital, guaranteeing full university scholarships and emergency housing assistance for the families of every administrative clerk, operations assistant, and junior staff member across our regional offices."

The senior directors and division managers rose to their feet, their cheers echoing through the high-vaulted glass atrium, sealing the dawn of an unshakeable, unified empire built on honor, loyalty, and truth.
