Chapter 9 - The Harbor of Tomorrow

By mid-autumn, the flagship container vessel of the new fleet—The Sovereign Elena—docked smoothly at Terminal 1 in the Port of Chicago for its maiden transatlantic voyage.

Thousands of dockworkers, civic leaders, international trade ambassadors, and longshoremen gathered along the waterfront under a cloudless sapphire sky to celebrate the christening.

The colossal vessel gleamed in pristine royal blue and white, its automated hybrid-electric propulsion systems humming with clean, silent power.

Elena stood on the raised christening platform in an exquisite, simple gown of emerald silk, holding the ceremonial bottle of champagne.

Beside her stood Frank Callahan, Marcus Hayes, and the veteran president of the Longshoremen's Union, Frank Kowalski.

Elena stepped up to the microphone, her voice echoing across the vast harbor with warmth, strength, and quiet authority.

"A ship is not measured by the iron of its hull or the speed of its engines," Elena addressed the cheering crowd. "It is measured by the integrity of the people who build it, the dignity of the hands that guide it, and the truth of the course it sails. Today, we send this vessel into the world as a symbol of an empire built not on fear, but on justice, honor, and unyielding strength."

Elena swung the champagne bottle with a clean, powerful stroke.
