Chapter 5 - The Breach at the Carriage House

The tactical assault on the Whitfield perimeter began at 2:15 AM beneath the howling rain.

From the second-floor master security suite, Adrien and I watched the infrared cameras mounted along the carriage house roof.

Six operatives in sterile black assault gear, armed with suppressed automatic carbines, moved through the pine grove toward the rear service generator. They carried commercial hydraulic cutters and an industrial thermal breaching lance designed to cut through hardened vault steel.

"They're targeting the subterranean server room beneath the east wing," Adrien analyzed, his eyes tracking the red heat signatures on the sixty-inch monitors. "Sinclair knows that Aisha’s original dash-cam footage and the recovered telemetry drives from 2022 are stored in the private archival vault."

"Can they cut through the steel shutters?" I asked, holding Aisha tightly in my arms as she watched the glowing screens with wide, curious eyes.

"Not before my men arrive," Adrien replied coldly.

The drone of heavy turbine engines rumbled through the low storm clouds above the valley.

Two unmarked matte-black tactical helicopters swept over the tree line without running lights, their high-intensity searchlights suddenly erupting in twelve million lumens of blinding, diamond-white halogen glare.

Twelve operators from the Whitfield private security division rappelled down fast-ropes onto the wet lawn, their carbines held at the high ready, forming an impenetrable perimeter around the carriage house.

Gunfire barked in the dark—sharp, rhythmic, double-tap bursts that dropped the three lead intruders before their fingers could clear the safeties of their weapons.

The remaining three mercenaries dropped their carbines onto the wet grass, falling face-down with their hands behind their heads as tactical teams swarmed the courtyard, securing their wrists in heavy steel zip-ties.

Adrien turned from the window, holstering his sidearm.

"The perimeter is clean," Adrien said, turning to me. "Pack Aisha’s clothes, Clara. We are going to Manhattan to end this."
