Chapter 9 - A New Dawn

Six months later, LatticePoint Solutions officially announced its Series C funding round—valuing the company at over one hundred million dollars.

We didn't need outside corporate raiders, shady consultants, or backroom deals. We grew the old-fashioned way: through brilliant code, relentless determination, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

On the morning of the announcement, I walked into the main lobby of our newly expanded headquarters. The walls were lined with patent certificates, team photos, and milestones we had achieved together.

Marcus, head of security, nodded as I walked past. “Big day, boss.”

“The biggest, Marcus,” I smiled.

As I stepped into my office, I found a bouquet of white roses sitting on my desk.

My breath caught for a split second, an old reflex of fear and betrayal creeping up my spine. But then I stepped closer and read the attached card.

*Congratulations on the Series C. You built an empire from the ground up, and no one deserves it more. — Richard & The Board.*

I laughed out loud, a genuine, warm sound that echoed off the glass walls. I picked up the vase and carried it straight to the breakroom, setting it in the center table for everyone to enjoy. White roses weren't cursed after all. They were just flowers.
