Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Dawn

One year after the wedding night I stood in a hotel room holding a hidden camera in my hand, the Atlantic coastline was bathed in the brilliant, golden light of late summer.

I stood on the private terrace of my new home on Sullivan’s Island, overlooking the endless expanse of the ocean.

A gentle sea breeze rustled through the palm trees, carrying the sweet scent of blooming jasmine and salt spray across the wide wooden deck.

Inside the sunlit house behind me, soft jazz music played through the open French doors. A long teak dining table was set with fresh flowers, platters of fresh local seafood, and chilled sparkling water, where my parents, Ava, Marcus Vance, and our closest partners were laughing, sharing stories, and celebrating Sentinel Arc’s record-breaking expansion into international defense telemetry.

I leaned against the cedar balustrade, holding a glass of iced tea, watching the white sails of fishing boats gliding peacefully across the glittering water toward the horizon.

I reached into my pocket, pulling out my phone to review the morning security manifests.

Sentinel Arc was completely sovereign, unencumbered by debt, unthreatened by traitors, and valued at over five hundred million dollars.

My life was entirely my own.

Ava walked out onto the terrace, holding two glasses of sparkling lemonade, and leaned against the railing beside me with a wide, radiant smile.

"What are you thinking about, Claire?" Ava asked softly, her arm brushing gently against mine.

I looked out across the vast, open ocean where the blue water met the boundless sky—calm, fearless, and completely unbroken.

"I was thinking about the morning the sun came up at the Bellweather," I answered softly, a warm, peaceful smile touching my lips. "How they thought they were going to lock me in a cage... and they never realized that the cage was made of glass."

Ava clinked her glass gently against mine. "To the woman who shattered it."

May you like

"To the light," I replied, my voice steady, strong, and free.

Together, we turned and walked into the warm, illuminated sanctuary of my home—an unbroken life, built on truth, courage, and an enduring light that would shine forever.
