Chapter 7 - The Cleansing of House Moretti

Within forty-eight hours of Marco Bellini’s arrest, the restructuring of the Moretti empire was executed with surgical, historic precision.
Dominic systematically dismantled every illegitimate, predatory, and corrupt operation from the family’s maritime network.
The sixty million dollars recovered from Marco’s seized offshore accounts were permanently transferred into The Elena & Lily Rossi Moretti Foundation for Maternal and Child Health—an unchallengeable philanthropic endowment dedicated to providing safe housing, legal protection, and comprehensive healthcare for vulnerable mothers and children across New York and New Jersey.
The grand estate in Oyster Bay underwent an immediate, profound physical and spiritual transformation.
The dark velvet drapes, the cold surveillance barriers, and the oppressive security barricades were removed, replaced by soaring architectural glass French doors that flooded every corridor with clean, golden winter sunlight.
The master family suite on the third floor was completely remodeled under my direction.
We installed wide white oak flooring, open bookshelves filled with classic literature and children's fairy tales, and an expansive two-story playroom that opened out onto lush gardens of fragrant lavender, white hydrangeas, and ancient weeping willows overlooking the Sound.
Lily was thriving.
She had fallen in love with Barnaby, the golden retriever, who followed her from room to room like a shaggy, devoted guardian. Under Dr. Sarah Lin’s gentle care, Lily received all her necessary pediatric checkups, thriving with radiant health, her cheerful laughter and energetic footsteps echoing through halls that had known only cold silence for decades.
On a crisp, sunny Saturday morning in late spring, Dominic and I stood on the wide stone terrace of the main manor, sipping fresh roast coffee.
Down on the emerald green lawn near the garden pond, five-year-old Lily was running with energetic, fearless speed, tossing a small red ball for Barnaby, who sprinted across the clover with joyful power before trotting back to drop the ball proudly at her feet.
Lily was laughing—a clear, musical, unburdened sound that carried across the water, her red raincoat replaced by a pretty yellow linen dress glowing in the sunlight, completely free of fear, completely free of shadows.
Dominic walked over, resting his arm gently around my waist, pulling me close against his broad chest.
"How does it feel, Donna Elena?" Dominic asked softly, a warm, tender smile touching his lips.
May you like
I leaned back against his broad frame, feeling the steady, powerful rhythm of his heartbeat against mine.
"It feels like daylight, Dominic," I answered with a heart full of absolute, unbreakable peace. "Pure, sovereign daylight."
