Chapter 8 - The Fall of the Harringtons

"Dominic... listen to me!" Brooke gasped, her voice jumping an octave into wild, frantic panic as she stumbled forward. "It was a misunderstanding! I was doing it for you! Julian told me the estate needed cash flow! I was trying to protect your legacy!"
"You were trying to steal my mother's trust to pay your brother's gambling debts in Boston, Brooke," Dominic said, every word landing like an iron hammer.
Dominic gestured to Emma, who stepped forward and placed the black leather folder onto the center of the dining table.
Dominic flipped the folder open, revealing high-resolution forensic bank audits, recorded audio transcripts, and certified arrest warrants issued by the Federal District Court.
"Two hours ago," Dominic continued, his eyes locking onto Julian, "federal marshals executed a search warrant on your private brokerage offices in Boston. They seized your offshore transaction ledgers, your forged promissory notes, and your encrypted communications with the loan syndicate in Zurich."
Julian backed toward the fireplace, his face drenched in sweat, his hands shaking violently. "Dominic... we’re family! You’re marrying my sister tomorrow!"
"There will be no wedding tomorrow, Julian," Dominic replied coldly.
The side French doors of the dining hall clicked open.
Four special agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, accompanied by Detective Raymond Vance of the Rhode Island State Police, stepped into the room with steel handcuffs drawn.
"Julian Harrington, Harrison Cole," Detective Vance announced, his voice cutting through the room. "You are under arrest for Federal Wire Fraud, Interstate Securities Conspiracy, Grand Larceny of Trust Assets, and Forgery of State Instruments."
Harrison Cole, who had been sitting quietly near the back of the room, buried his face in his hands, weeping in total, unmitigated ruin as the agents secured his wrists in heavy steel chains.
Julian lunged toward the terrace doors, but Mateo Rossi moved with blinding speed, slamming Julian face-down onto the parquet floor, pinning his arm behind his back and clicking the handcuffs shut in one fluid motion.
Brooke stood frozen at the head of the table, her designer dress shaking with violent tremors as she looked around at her socialite friends. Not a single person met her eyes; every guest stepped back, turning away in disgust from the disgraced predator.
Brooke turned her gaze back to Dominic, tears of bitter, venomous defeat streaming down her makeup.
"You think you’ve won, Dominic?" she hissed, her voice trembling with hatred. "You’re a monster who lives on fear! You’ll die alone in this cold museum!"
Dominic walked slowly up to the head of the table until he stood inches from her.
He reached down, took the three-carat diamond engagement ring from her finger, and tossed it into an empty champagne bucket on the sideboard with a hollow, metallic clink.
"I am not alone, Brooke," Dominic whispered, his gray eyes burning with cold, eternal judgment. "I have my family. And you have thirty years at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury."
Dominic turned to the federal agents.

"Get her out of my mother's house."
As the agents dragged Brooke Harrington screaming down the grand corridor, her shrill, echoing cries faded into the distance until the heavy front doors slammed shut with concussive finality.
