Chapter 10 - Sanctuary

One year later.

The sun was setting over the Chicago skyline, painting the clouds in brilliant shades of gold, amber, and bruised violet.

Nora stood on the private balcony of the Wabash Meridian penthouse, leaning against the glass railing. She wore a simple white linen dress, her hair blowing gently in the spring breeze.

Footsteps approached from behind. Strong, familiar arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her back against a solid, warm chest. A chin rested gently on her shoulder.

“You’re thinking about blueprints again,” Adrian murmured, pressing a soft kiss to the curve of her neck.

Nora smiled, leaning back into his embrace, feeling entirely, utterly safe.

“I’m thinking about how much space we need for the new nursery,” she whispered.

Adrian went still for a fraction of a second—not with fear, but with an overwhelming, staggering wave of joy. He buried his face in her hair, his arms tightening around her protective and fierce.

“As much space as you want, Mrs. Vale,” he whispered huskily. “We own the whole building.”

Nora laughed, turning in his arms to wrap her hands around his neck, looking up into those dark, devoted eyes that had once frightened her, but now felt like home.

The cold, ruthless boss of Chicago had found his sanctuary. And she had found her forever.
