Chapter 4 - The Recovery at Pier 19

The breach at Pier 19 was executed with surgical, overwhelming military force.

The front security gates of the container terminal were blown off their hinges by a synchronized hydraulic ram, sending sparks and sheared iron cascading into the wet gravel.

Sixteen operators dressed in sterile black tactical gear, carrying suppressed carbines, swept through the loading bays with blinding speed.

Gunfire erupted across the concrete yard—sharp, muffled double-taps that dismantled the Rossi security detail in less than forty seconds.

Lorenzo strode through the shattered glass doors of the terminal’s main office, his black overcoat billowing in the wind, his weapon raised at the high ready.

I walked two paces behind him, flanked by Marco and two tactical gunners.

On the second-floor mezzanine, Don Carlo Rossi—a sixty-five-year-old mob patriarch dressed in an expensive pinstripe suit—stood frozen beside an industrial steel desk.

In his right hand, he held my white iPhone. In his left, he held a chrome-plated revolver.

"Lorenzo!" Carlo shouted, his voice cracking with frantic, desperate terror as he backed against the panoramic glass window overlooking the shipping berths. "You're out of your mind! The five families ratified the marriage covenant! You cannot attack my terminal without an assembly of the commission!"

"The commission ratified an alliance, Carlo," Lorenzo said, his baritone slicing through the room like a honed blade. "Not an assassination pact."

Lorenzo moved with blinding speed.

Before Carlo could level his revolver, Lorenzo closed the distance, his left hand clamping over Carlo’s wrist, twisting the joint with brutal, mechanical leverage.

The chrome revolver dropped to the floor with a heavy thud.

Lorenzo drove his forearm across Carlo’s chest, slamming the older boss hard against the glass window, pinning him in place with effortless, crushing power.

Lorenzo reached out with his other hand, taking my white iPhone from Carlo’s trembling fingers.

He handed the device to me.

I tapped the screen, unlocking the device with my biometric thumbprint.

The audio file was intact: “Garden_Suite_Recording_01.”

I pressed play.

The second-floor office filled with the crystalline, undeniable voices of Carlo and Vivienne Rossi discussing the sabotage of Lorenzo’s brakes, the murder of his mother, and the theft of the Duca shipping empire.

Carlo’s face turned an ashen shade of chalk. His knees gave out, his body sagging against the glass as Lorenzo held him upright by the lapels of his suit.

"You used my father's friendship to poison my house, Carlo," Lorenzo whispered, his slate-gray eyes locking onto the trembling patriarch with the absolute, terrifying stillness of an executioner. "You sent your daughter to strangle an innocent mother in my hallway. And you thought a broken necklace would cover your shame."

Marco stepped forward with heavy steel transport chains, binding Carlo’s wrists and ankles with sharp, final clicks.

"Where are you taking me?" Carlo wept, tears cutting clean lines through his makeup.

Lorenzo looked at the fallen boss with cold, unshakeable indifference.

"To the grand ballroom of the St. Regis Hotel," Lorenzo replied. "Where the five families are currently waiting for your daughter's engagement toast."
