Chapter 5 - The Legal Counterattack

While Emily rested in the safety of the VIP suite, Raymond Vance was busy orchestrating a legal and corporate counterattack that would ensure Clara and her co-conspirators never recovered from their assault.
Down in the executive boardroom on the twentieth floor of the hospital tower, Raymond sat at the head of a massive obsidian conference table. Flanked by three senior corporate litigators and the head of internal security, he reviewed the forensic financial audits compiled over the past two hours.
"The scope of Clara’s fraudulent activities goes far beyond today's incident, Mr. Vance," the lead litigator, a sharp-eyed woman named Katherine Sterling, reported, sliding a thick leather-bound dossier across the table. "For the past eighteen months, Clara has been quietly liquidating minor subsidiary assets and funneling trust distributions through a shell company in the Cayman Islands. She was preparing to contest Thomas’s will the moment Emily gave birth, claiming Emily was an 'unfit dependent.'"
Raymond flipped through the pages of the financial dossier, his slate-gray eyes narrowing with lethal precision.
"And Dr. Harrison?" Raymond asked coldly.
"His medical license is permanently revoked in four states," Katherine replied smoothly. "Furthermore, our compliance team discovered he accepted a fifty-thousand-dollar bribe from Clara last Tuesday to falsify Emily’s psychiatric evaluation. We’ve already forwarded the bank transfer records to the United States Attorney’s office. He’s facing up to ten years in federal prison for wire fraud and medical tampering."

"Good," Raymond said, closing the dossier with a sharp thap. "I don't want settlements. I don't want quiet resignations. I want maximum statutory prosecution across every single civil and criminal avenue available. Make sure Clara’s father—my spineless cousin Arthur—knows that if he attempts to intervene on her behalf, I will strip his corporate directorship by sunset."
"Consider it done, Mr. Vance," Katherine said, gathering her briefs and standing up. "The legal dragnet is already closing."
