Chapter 6 - The Cleansing of Aegis-7

At 9:00 a.m. on Monday, the grand executive amphitheater on the top floor of the Aegis-7 Headquarters in Tysons Corner was convened for an emergency plenary session.

The thirty-two senior division chiefs, Pentagon procurement liaisons, and intelligence partners sat around the sixty-foot mahogany conference table in dead, suffocating silence.

The morning front-page headlines of The Washington Post and The Military Times lay spread across the polished table, every banner dominated by the same earth-shattering revelation:

FORT BELVOIR MILITARY FRAUD RING BUSTED: RETIRED COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR AND CAPTAIN SON INDICTED FOR $15M TREASON AND ATTEMPTED MURDER.

When the frosted glass double doors slid open, every single executive in the room stood up in unison.

Lisa Bennett walked into the boardroom, dressed in an immaculate bespoke navy wool three-piece suit, her posture radiating total, uncontested dominance.

Her left arm was supported in a neat, low-profile black tactical sling, her dark hair swept back in a severe, elegant chignon, wearing her late father’s gold Patek Philippe watch on her right wrist.

Walking beside her, holding his head high with unshakeable military dignity, was Sergeant First Class Ethan Carter.

Following behind them were Major David Vance and Arthur Ross, carrying four heavy aluminum Pelican cases containing the unsealed Delaware forensic ledgers.

Lisa took her seat at the head of the table—the seat her father had founded a decade earlier. Ethan sat in the prominent executive chair immediately to her right.

"Good morning, gentlemen," Lisa began, her clear, resonant voice cutting through the room with absolute authority. "Item one on today's agenda is the formal, permanent termination of Chloe Adams as Chief Operating Officer, accompanied by the immediate revocation of all security clearances, voting shares, and executive severance packages."

The board members nodded in rapid, unanimous agreement, every single director signing the emergency restructuring resolution without a single objection.

"Item two," Lisa continued, looking around the table with cold, penetrating clarity. "The fifteen million dollars recovered from the Bennett Cayman accounts has been fully transferred into the newly established Sergeant First Class Ethan Carter Foundation for Combat Whistleblowers and Veteran Protection."

The room erupted into spontaneous, standing applause.

"And item three," Lisa added, turning to Major Vance. "The Cerberus-9 quantum encryption protocols have been verified as one hundred percent secure. We will deliver the master defense architecture to the United States Cyber Command at twelve noon today."

Lisa closed the master ledger with a sharp, definitive thud. "The meeting is adjourned. Let's get our company back to work."
