Chapter 9 - The Sovereign Restoration

One year after the morning the baton was raised, the vast grounds of the newly renovated estate on the Potomac River were alive with the sound of music, laughter, and blooming nature.
The dark, oppressive military artifacts that had once defined Evelyn’s domain had been completely removed.
The house had been transformed into a bright, joyful sanctuary of open glass terraces, blooming white hydrangeas, climbing English roses, and a state-of-the-art cybersecurity research pavilion overlooking the water.
It was the annual Aegis-7 Veteran Leadership Gala.
The sprawling stone terraces were filled with three hundred guests: active-duty Green Berets in dress uniforms, software engineers, defense litigators, and military families who formed the true heart of Lisa’s restored life.
In the center of the lawn, Ethan stood showing a group of young military cadets how to navigate using an antique brass field compass that our father had carried during his service decades ago.
Lisa walked out from the French doors carrying a pitcher of fresh iced tea, wearing a flowing cream linen sundress, her heart overflowing with an unshakeable, profound peace.
Arthur Ross walked up the stone steps, wearing his comfortable tweed coat, holding two crystal glasses of sparkling cider.
"A magnificent harvest, Lisa," Arthur smiled, clinking his glass against hers. "The firm cleared two hundred million in ethical defense contracts this quarter, and every veteran transitional center in the state is fully funded."
"It is a true home, Arthur," Lisa replied softly, watching Ethan laugh with the young cadets. "Built on the truth."
Ethan looked up from the lawn, waving his hand with a bright, fearless smile that mirrored our father’s strength and his sister’s iron spine.
"Lisa!" Ethan called out across the grass. "The navigation alignment is true! We’re clearing the river channel for the afternoon sail!"

Lisa smiled—a radiant, powerful smile that filled her chest with warmth—and raised her glass in salute.
"Set the course, Ethan!" Lisa shouted back, her voice rich with sisterly pride. "The wind is all yours!"
